In October 2024, Broadband Nation Expo brought the U.S. broadband industry to the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, just outside Washington, DC. Over three days, October 9 to 11, about 1,500 attendees, more than 110 speakers and about 80 exhibitors and partners took part.
The event was organized by Fierce Events, part of Questex, and Audio Visual Solutions produced the AV for the whole event: the general session, the expo hall, three breakout stages and the technology in the exhibitor booths.
The general session
The general session ran in the main ballroom. We rigged a custom 20-foot-tall banner above the stage, set up dual 4K projection and speaker arrays, and lit the stage with a dynamic design that included moving lights. The session was recorded and streamed online, reaching 340 viewers beyond the room.
The general session crew covered audio, video, lighting and content, with a show caller running cues so every speaker, video and transition landed on time.
The expo hall theater
On the show floor we built a full stage for the Broadband Nation Theater, with dual projection screens, a speaker array, stage lighting and video production. We also set up a separate overflow projection screen with sound that carried the general session live from the main ballroom, so attendees on the show floor could follow along.
Breakout stages and exhibitor booths
Three side stages hosted the breakout sessions, each with sound, projection, staging and lighting from us. For exhibitors, we supplied booth technology: LED screens, laptops and iPads.
One crew across every room
Every stage had its own audio, video and lighting engineer, so each room ran on its own schedule. Running every room as one production gave the organizer a single plan and a single point of contact for the AV.
